Following are the 2007 Rose of Distinction honorees.

Jay Bova
Jay Bova of Plano is sponsor Chairman of The Family Legacy Foundation Golf Classic, which focuses on helping the children of families who have lost a parent. Currently it benefits the education fund for children with two different families who lost their father unexpectedly. Ebby salutes Jay for being an outstanding citizen giving back to the community, and that is why he is this week's Ebby Rose of Distinction.


Jackie Jelen
Jackie Jelen of Irving is a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence, a national nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of children and adults with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and on going support. Ebby salutes Jackie for helping the handicap through Canine Companions.


Fran Phillips
Fran Phillips of Dallas is currently President of the board for Keep Dallas Beautiful, a non-profit volunteer based organization dedicated to engaging individuals to taking responsibility for improving their local community and environment. Ebby salutes Fran for her gracious nature, insight and assistance for Keep Dallas Beautiful.


Debbie Taylor
Debbie Taylor of Dallas is Chairwoman for the Metropolitan of Dallas. She has helped raise over $55 million for keeping teens from dropping out of high school, preparing young children for kindergarden, and providing healthcare for the uninsured. Ebby salutes Debbie for all of her efforts with children and their families in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.


Lynn Sipiora
Lynn Sipiora of McKinney began her work as a volunteer in 1999 with The Samaritan Inn, Collin County's only homeless shelter. Lynn has helped with the opening of a thrift store, an award-winning Vocational Training Program, and a 20 unit transitional living apartment complex scheduled to open in December 2007. Ebby salutes Lynn for being an outstanding citizen giving back to the community.


Don Glendenning
Don Glendenning of Dallas has a key focus on preservation causes. Don serves as Chairman of Thanks-Giving Sqaure Foundation and Dallas Zoological Society. He is President of Scenic Dallas, Scenic Texas, and Director of the Texas Trees Foundation. Just this year he became a Director of the Dallas Holocaust Museum and Center for Education and Tolerance. Ebby salutes Don for all his efforts on preservation causes.

Mark Namey

Mark Namey of McKinney has put together an annual golf tournament for the past nine years. This year it raised over $2,500 for the White Rose Women's Center providing pre–natal vitamins, healthcare, formula, diapers, clothes and other services for single new mothers. Ebby salutes Mark for being an outstanding citizen giving back to the community.

Steve Hill

Steve Hill of Garland founded New Beginnings Center in 1983; a non–profit agency that fosters an environment of safety, support, and respect for families affected by domestic violence. Ebby salutes Steve for all of his efforts in helping victims of domestic violence.


Jan Tennyson
Jan Tennyson of Dallas started the Dare to Dream foundation 20 years ago, which is a ministry that has influenced the lives of more than 20,000 abused, neglected, and foster children in group homes, shelters, detention facilities and orphanages. Ebby salutes Jan for being an outstanding citizen
for helping children in need.

Jane Donovan
Jane Donovan of Plano has a passion for learning, leading and transforming her community. She has been involved with Collin County Child Advocacy Center since 1993, and is committed to faith, family and her community. Ebby salutes Jane for all of her efforts and collaboration in strengthening child protective laws.

Marty Coleman
Marty Coleman of Dallas assists children with learning disabilities, and also serves on many advisory committees related to this cause. Marty is an outstanding humanitarian, and the first recipient of the 2007 Ebby Rose of Distinction Award.
